Annual Report June 2020
Our Vision Statement
HOOFS2010 Inc is dedicated to the preservation and recognition of the BRUMBY herds as the Equine Heritage of Australia. These BRUMBIES are the working horses of our past released into the wild.
Our Mission Statement
To rescue, protect & preserve a sustainable proportion of Australia’s Wild (Brumby) horse population from uncontrolled mass culling. We will strive to achieve recognition and acceptance from the Australian Government as well as the general public for Brumby horses as our Heritage, likened to that of the The Man from Snowy River.
Establishing a working sanctuary as a model for positive management is one of priorities. Obtaining Government funding to assist us in this cause is for the future benefit of ALL Australians.
Our Values
We will be highly reputable and accountable in all our dealings and will conduct our business with honesty and integrity. We will be fair and follow due process.
We are a Not for Profit Organisation and only seek to recover expenses.
We are all volunteers and greatly appreciate all input of services and resources. We will keep members informed.
We are committed to a high standard of safety for all our members and the general public. We will exercise high standards in our Duty of Care to the Environment.
We are committed to prevent the uncontrolled and inhumane culling and removal of the Australia's equine BRUMBY population.
We intend to preserve Australia's wild horse (BRUMBY) heritage for the future of all Australians.
2019/20
The past year has seen our association step up to assist Brumbies displaced by removal programs, our Advocacy work also has been challenging with news that eradication programs are to be heightened with total removals in Government National Parks across a broadened area.
Our Association has to date Rescued 154 wild horses.
We have introduced programs for the general public to be included in our volunteer work and formed the new subcommittee of Junior members to ensure we reach a broader community base and assist with education in Environmental issues and the benefits grazing animals bring to a healthy eco system.
The past year our non-breeding policy and re-homing agenda saw 15 Brumbies find suitable homes, with 14 Brumbies coming into care to begin our re-homing program in due course.
COVID19 placed many hurdles to our association effecting fundraising possibilities and events at our sanctuary, however we look forward to the bright future ahead.
Our goals are forever growing and this new financial year we are working to purchase a larger Sanctuary for housing and re-homing programs of Brumbies.
Social media has been a powerful tool in heightening the Brumby cause and has had both positive and negative effect on the issues at Hand.
Our committee will work towards sustainable management practice and work towards populations remaining in the wild to benefit all Australians. We will work the next 12 months to gain government financial support to positive management of wild horses rather than past efforts which saw most displaced Brumbies slaughtered at knackeries.
We will oppose any plans of lethal methods as a way to manage wild horse populations and work to build a management that can ensure wild horses Brumbies are an iconic part of our future.

General Meeting 15/8/2020
Held via ZOOM due to COVID19
Welcome to everyone, new and old members.
I would like to start by thanking our wonderful committee past and present. It has been an amazing and remarkably interesting year in the Brumby world.
An exciting year for HOOFS, From the revamped yards to the new fences at the Sanctuary.
Our trusty crusaders traveling far and wide to save Brumbies from the sales to local Barmah Forest Brumbiess, to surrendered and Boomerang Brumbies. All up this year 12 coming into the Sanctuary and 13 being re-homed.
I can’t praise highly enough the dedication, love and care that is put in by everyone but especially Lyn and John.
To all the other volunteers I say THANK-YOU. Without you all there would not be a Sanctuary.
With all the ongoing threats to our Brumbies remaining in the wild, there have been an amazing band of people “getting the word out there” and getting the media, politicians and the public involved, many groups banding together to bring awareness to the plight of our Aussie equine Icons.
Donations, sponsorships and memberships have been on a climb which is so gratifying, and we are so grateful for. This makes the day to day running of the Sanctuary SO much easier and less stressful.
This year saw the start of our bigger and better Sanctuary fund start.
The Fundraising effort has been an enormous feat this year with many auctions and raffles, giving funds. Many thanks for everyone’s efforts and to the general public’s fantastic generosity.
Susie and Her Junior Committee, thank you for helping get funds and the younger Brumby lovers involved.
Again thankyou to everyone, here’s to a bigger and better 2020/21 for us and the Brumbies.
